Where there’s lots to see and do for all the family
We are pleased to announce that following on from the success of 2025 we will be continuing to expand the Activity Zone, adding new attractions that will appeal, excite, interest and entertain you, whatever your age.
The New Activity Zone at the Swallowfield Show is a must visit for all the family.
Bubbles Inc (Free Activity)
The fantastic Bubbleologist will entertain you with a fun and interactive bubble show walkabout.
With a combination of Giant Bubbles, Clouds of billions of bubbles, People inside bubbles and mind-boggling bubble tricks creating a fun vibe with tons of bubble participation for all ages
The Climbing Wall (Free Activity)
At 6.9 meters high and a climbing face of 6.5m, anyone over the age of four can use the wall, as long as they fit in our harnesses and helmets, a perfect way to try climbing for the first time in a fun and safe environment or show off your prowess by climbing all the way to the top. Instr
uctors operate four auto-belay lines, a total of four people at a time, a sign-up system is used which prevents attendees from spending all their time in the queue.
To meet licensing and regulatory responsibilities, names and contact details of all participants are taken. Children need to have parental consent before taking part in the activity.
Circus Skills Workshop (Free Activity )
The extremely popular Larger Than Life are returning to the show this year with their large and colourful circus mat where you can try your hand at juggling, unicycling, hand held stilt walking, diablos, hula hoops, hoi and plate spinning!
You will be under the expert tuition of seasoned performers John Caudrey and Jason Perry who can also show you how it is done! Suitable for all ages and abilities you are free to drop in as many times as you like to improve your skills.
Adventure Dolphin
Adventure Dolphin will be joining us at the Activity zone with Soft archery,
kayak machine and a basic orienteering course for families around the show. Adventure Dolphin are a community-led activity centre with a fleet of paddle sport crafts & a purpose-built climbing wall that aims to engage young people and adults with the opportunity to experience adventure sports. 
Run by dedicated staff & volunteers who wish to share their love of the great outdoors, we are a centre of excellence for the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the home of the Pangbourne Paddle sport Club, school holiday clubs, climbing, and other community classes.
The Crafty Kids Club ( Chargeable )
Looking for a fun, engaging way to keep your children entertained ? The Crafty Kids Club offers hands-on art and crafts designed for children to make something special and creative.
Run by two qualified primary school teachers each with over 15 years of classroom experience, children can explore a variety of materials and techniques to create artwork they’ll be proud of.
Crafts on offer in the activity zone are: Sand art pictures & Sand Bottles for children to design and create.
The Mobile Belfrey Trust (Free Activity)
The Mobile Belfries Trust, formerly The Charmborough Trust, is a registered charity with the aim of promoting the historic art or church bell ringing through the use of mobile belfries. The Trust owns and operates both The Charmborough Ring and The Touring Tower and promotes The Lichfield Diocesan Mobile Belfry (which remains a charitable trust in its own right).
The Touring Tower joining us at this year’s Swallowfield show giving everyone the opportunity to give bell ringing a try for free.
The Touring Tower was developed with funding from Taylor’s Bellfoundry and the Central Council of Church Bell ringers. It was designed to be lighter than the two other mobile belfries, so that more vehicles could tow it to events. The total weight of the trailer, bells and tower is just under 1600 kgs. The trailer is also hydraulically operated, so that the Touring Tower can be erected quickly by three people.
The Oakley Stitchers
The Oakley Stitchers will be joining us at The Swallowfield Show this year in the Activity Zone with Mr McGregory’s Garden.
Mr McGregory is a grumpy Gardener who likes his vegetable and flower gardens. Creating paper vegetables children have the challenge of sneaking their creations into and out of his wheelbarrow without him spotting them, they can do this as many times as they think they can get away with. There is also a chance to get involved with other activities.
These activities help support learning such as where vegetables come from, plan
ts and how they are grown and the animals and processes within the garden that make a garden biodegradable and ecofriendly.
The Oakley Stitchers are an active community group who came together at the beginning of the pandemic, starting out repurposing bedding into scrubs and masks for the amazing doctors, nurses, medical, care, dental and veterinary staff.
This has now grown into the many different items our volunteers still create and send to those who need them, and do everything they can to use, reuse, recycle or repurpose, opening a community shop in 2025 to offer a place for people to bring their unwanted craft, knitting or crafting materials and offer other the opportunity for others to purchase.
Also supporting their local repair cafes to enable people to repair and reuse the items they have.
The Oakley Stitchers also have 9 groups that meet across the Basingstoke and Dean area, a drop off point in Newbury and a satellite group in Alton.
The Eco Skills Learning Centre ( Chargeable )
The Eco Skills Learning Centre is based in Arborfield, Berkshire, a volunteer-led community of passionate individuals dedicated to empowering youth with practical eco-friendly skills for a sustainable future. For Schools, Scouts, Youth and Educational Groups.
The centre originated from Lambs Lane Repair Café following the success of the “Build your own birdbox” project. Today the Eco Skills Learning Centre hosts its own youth workshops running entirely on donations and volunteer time. Bringing along kits to build birdboxes and items for creating bug hotels, they will also be bringing swift boxes and hedgehog boxes and ready made birdboxes. Visitors will have an opportunity to build the birdboxes and learn about how to attract birds to their gardens.
Micka’s Training ( Free Activity )
Micka’s Training’s a local family run business with the aim to deliver fun and friendly total body workouts as Micka is passionate about bringing exercise to everyone – all ages and abilities, He loves supporting his clients to fit exercise into their daily life, see how easy healthy habits can be and show them just what amazing results they are capable of! 
Join Micka in the Activity Zone for some great friendly fun activities including games such as tug of war. Suitable for almost every age, ability, and fitness level.
Berkshire reptile encounters ( Free Activity )
Established in 1996 as a rescue to help rehabilitate and rehome reptiles and exotic animals, our professional team can provide support to various types of exotic animals and pets, this includes reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.
We have a wealth of experience when it comes to handling a large variety of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, as well as the re-homing of exotic pets. At Berkshire Reptile Encounters our priority is rescuing sick or unwanted reptiles or exotics and then finding suitable, responsible, and caring homes for them, for life. We also can provide permanent sanctuaries for them should they be unfit for re-homing. We have grown to now offer reptile and animal handling to help raise funds to help the animals and reptiles that we rescue and helping to educate both children and adults about reptiles and exotic animals, but in a fun way. Hosted by trained animal handlers, you’ll be in safe hands with Berkshire Reptile Encounters, all the animals and reptiles are trained to be around humans.
Thames Valley community police
(Free Activity – Sunday only)
We are pleased to announce that this year Thames Valley community police officers will be joined by TVP cadets. Come along and learn about crime prevention.
There will also be a collection of police vehicles parked on site for you to peruse.
Wollschweber Crafts ( Free Activity )
Caroline is a spinner, dyer and knitter and will be bringing her 
spinning wheels to the Swallowfield show giving visitors an opportunity to see her in action along with the opportunity to try wool spinning on the spinning wheel and using drop spindles!!Also, for those visitor interested in such things Caroline will also have yarns available for sale at the show.
The Woosehill, Wokingham WI
With their hilarious Human Fruit Machine (Monday Only)
This is a must to visit the Activity Zone, which sadly is with us on the Monday only.
The Woosehill, Women’s Institute, are local ladies who meet every 4th Thursday afternoon at Woosehill Community Hall. They have various subgroups such as a Games Group, Book Group and Gardening Group that meet up during each month which offer fun, companionship and in the case of the Walking Group, a healthy option. A regular coffee morning at a local cafe in Wokingham is also organised as well as a monthly luncheon at either a local restaurant or pub. also supporting The Royal Berks Hospital by supplying emergency toiletry bags for overnight patient stays as well as knitted products for either baby urgent care needs or other hospital departments.
With the hilarious Human Fruit Machine being their main attraction in the Activity Zone, which is a bargain at £1 for 2 goes and offering great prizes, gives children the opportunity to have value for money fun supported with a children’s Tombola again offering great prizes, a table will also be selling small items to raise funds to purchase items needed for the Royal Berks Hospital.

Visit The Mum Seasonal Craftshop in the Activity Zone for fun with Slime making and Glitter globes.
