Charitable Donations -2017

The 2017 show was very successful, resulting in a total donation of £9,000.

In addition to the Peter Samuel Charitable Trust (donated via Farley Estates, on whose land the show is held) in recent years beneficiaries have included:

Me2 Club

A local charity that enables children and young people with additional needs, within the Wokingham Borough, to access mainstream leisure activities. www.me2club.org.uk.

Charlie Waller Memorial Trust

St Michael’s Hospice

St. Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire) enables anyone faced with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers, to attain the highest possible quality of life by providing a choice of specialist care and support.  www.stmichaelshospice.org.uk

Bowyer Family Memorial Trust

Promotes agriculture and excellence in the science of agriculture, and awards grants to assist in agricultural studies. www.bfmt.org.uk.

Heartstart Swallowfield

Provides training on Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills to the people around Reading. www.heartstartswallowfield.co.uk.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance

Founded in 2000, we they are a charity that provides life-saving medical care across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Their doctor and paramedic crews are able to deliver an advanced level of critical care. They can treat seriously ill or injured patients at the scene, fast.  www.tvairambulance.org.uk

Guide Dogs for the Blind

Providing mobility for the blind and partially sighted. Supporting research, raising awareness and campaigning for the visually impaired. www.guidedogs.org.uk

The presentation of donations to Thames Valley Air Ambulance, Me2 Club and Hearstart Swallowfield were made on 19 April 2018 at Farley Hill Place Gardens, in conjunction with the launch of the 2018 Thames Valley Air Ambulance Open Gardens scheme booklet. Margaret Finch and Val Payne made the presentations on behalf of the Society, to Ruth Dunkin (TV Air Ambulance), Tess Eagles (Me2 Club and Barry Davis (Heartstart Swallowfield.)
