JULY UPDATE

You may be aware that, earlier this year, an articulated lorry caused significant damage to the bridge near the Swallowfield Showground

The damaged bridge is being well managed with temporary traffic lights and we are in discussion with the Council to ensure that there are no significant issues for normal traffic at the time of the Show. As they say in show business, ( slightly tweaked ),

“The show will go on”

Whilst this temporary solution enabling the use of the bridge is in place, the usable width of the bridge has been severely reduced which could be an issue for larger vehicles.

Please be aware, as things stand, when leaving the Swallowfield Park, all drivers need to be aware that the temporary traffic lights are 2 way, not 3 way, and traffic on the B road from the left has priority when approaching the bridge.

We hope our discussions with the council will lead to show time changes in how traffic is managed enabling more flexibility thus allowing us to better control local traffic and showground access.
